Biography: Roberta Baril has taught in various junior and senior high band programs for Edmonton Public Schools over the last 37 years. In 2016, Roberta took a position at the University of Alberta, where she began working in the Faculty of Education and teaching courses in Advanced Field Experience to music students. She has been the recipient of many awards and accolades, including an Alberta Excellence in Teaching award and the medal of honour from the John Philip Sousa Foundation, and is a proud member of the music fraternity, Phi Beta Mu. She is an active tuba player, performing with the prestigious Edmonton Winds, and is sought after as a guest clinician and conductor throughout the province. She has worked on the boards of the Alberta Band Association and the Coalition for Music Education. She holds a masters of education degree that is focused on the mentoring of beginning music teachers. Roberta firmly believes in music’s vital role in the pursuit of a balanced lifestyle.
