Biography: Jennifer started teaching high school students in 2009. She transitioned into a guidance counselling role in 2014 and learned quickly about the increasing need for mental health supports in school. Desiring more training in order to better support students she returned to school in 2015 to begin a Masters in Counselling degree. Jennifer has particular interest in working with the LGBTQ2+ students and indigenous students. She has been a GSA advisor and an indigenous support lead teacher. In her Masters program Jennifer is focusing on supporting women and girls, especially those who have experienced trauma. Returning full time to teaching in 2019 Jennifer plans to continue impacting positive changes through providing one-to-one counselling supports for students as well as supporting teachers and administrators as they seek to improve mental health programming in schools.
