Biography: Maggie MacDonnell is the winner of the Global Teacher Prize, considered to be the Nobel Peace Prize of Education. This US $1 Million Prize is awarded annually by the Varkey Foundation to an outstanding teacher. Maggie's nomination stood out from over 20,000 applications from 179 countries. Maggie's teaching experience has ranged from Sub Saharan Africa to the Canadian Arctic, and from working with Congolese refugees to Inuit youth. She brings a strong community development and feminist lens to her teaching practice. She has been named as one of BBC's Top 100 Women, an Albert Einstein Visionary to being selected as a Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum.
