Biography: Melissa Logan is an educator who has worked in the Alberta SPCA Education Department for over ten years. Engaging with teachers and other organizations, she has developed curriculum-relevant humane education programs and resources for Alberta teachers to inspire empathy and compassion for all living things, and enhance animal welfare across the province. One such program, AnimalTales, a book lending program aimed at inspiring empathy, has been utilized by over 14,000 Alberta students since its inception eight years ago. She holds a BSc., BEd. and is working on a MSc. in International Animal Welfare Science, Ethics and Law. In her spare time she volunteers with her cat Neville for Chimo Animal Assisted Wellness and Learning Society (CAAWLS) and spends as much time as she can in the river valley with her dog Nina.
